Das französische Département Cantal ist das 15. Département in alphabetischer Reihenfolge. Es liegt mitten in Frankreich, in der Region Auvergne. Es ist benannt nach dem zweithöchsten Berg des Zentralmassiv, dem Plomb du Cantal (1858 m). Das Département ist namensgebend für die Käsesorte Cantal.
